Salted Caramel Brownies at Katie's Unicorn Bakery |
The other day, I was cleaning my kitchen and looking at a piece of cleaning sponge in my hand. It has little holes like a real sponge cake. I wanted to know if I could make it to a miniature food. So I experimented and it worked!
Today I wanted to show you how to make realistic miniature sponge cake. It's easier than making a clay miniature cake.
Materials You Need
- Cleaning sponge
- Acrylic paint (for sponge and decoration)
- Baking soda
- Glue
How To Make
- Cut a piece of cleaning sponge into a triangle, rectangle, or square to make a sponge part of a cake.
- Paint sponges that you cut in step 1.
- Mix baking soda and school glue in a small container at about 2:1 ratio. (Add paint if you want to colour the whipped cream part.) Adjust the consistency of the cream by adding more baking soda or water to make its thickness similar to whipped cream. Not too runny but not too hard so you can create an illusion of a drip frosting.
- Decorate the sponge part with the cream you made in step 3.

Cut cut cut...I chose a triangle shape |

Paint the sponges. I only painted on the side as I will cover the top of the cake with cream. |

Was it easy? Let me know if you want me to make a tutorial video for this sponge cake.
