Quick & Realistic Doll Photography Hack

Happy New Year, friends. I wish you a year filled with dolls and miniature crafts! What is your New Year's resolution for 2025? Mine is to write more posts for my blog and find more ways to reuse things like plastic packages for miniature crafts. I am sharing how I quickly took photos to attend my friend's New Year's Eve party. This hack comes in handy when you don't have time to set up a diorama but want to participate in a hashtag challenge. I developed this hack when I realized I am not so good at building a large diorama 😅 There have been many times I spent time and energy to set up a diorama scene for a hashtag event and ended up not posting any photos because of poor quality. I am not saying this to pity myself but to share how my realization of what I am not good at led to discovering a new way to take a doll photo. Quick Hack: Party Dress My friend @breizhdolls invited us to a New Year's Eve party #breizhdollsnyeparty2024 . (the party is still going until ...

Cute Children's Book "I Love You" Miniature Printable

My daughter and I have been working on making a miniature children's book printable for a while. We wanted to make a book you could read which means we needed to design and write something meaningful. So it took a while, but finally, we finished! Well...to tell you the truth, we did not draw these cute animals. I found them in Canva and placed them like a children's book. And then my daughter and I brainstormed words to go with the illustrations. This is how the book I Love You was created. Me: Can you write a story to match these pictures? My daughter: I don't know what to write! How about..."You are paw some" for this one? (pointing the page with a dog and puppies.) Me: Awesome! My daughter: I know another one! "Some bunny loves you" but you don't have a bunny one. Me: Let me check if Canva has a cute bunny picture. The book's author does not exist because we made up the name. Someday, we will find a doll for this person like I did for Amelia...

Miniature Comic Book: Space Cat 1 - 4

I have created a handful of residents in my dolltown over the years. They each have a name, job, and unique personality. Amelia Kito is one of the residents who works as a graphic novel writer. She is a Japanese Canadian and that's where her last name "Kito" came from. (Perhaps her dad is from Japan.) Amelia published her first book  Cats Rule the Street in February 2024.  Today, I am posting her second book series that I created called Space Cat. In this printable, you have one book that has inside pages (Book 1) and three books without inside pages (Book 2-4). It would be cute if we took pictures of a doll reading a book and a stack of books on the side.  Here are some images from the comic book series. It was inspired by a popular graphic novel, Space Boy that my daughter was reading when I created it. As you can see, I put many unnecessary details in my printable. I say "unnecessary" because you can't even read these details on a 1:6 scale. Here are som...

Holiday Baking! Doll-size Baking Craft Ideas

The holiday season is coming soon, so I wanted to gather some craft ideas for miniature baking. Mmm, yum! 🎂🎂🎂 1. Katie's Baking Book Printable This is the book I created based on one of my dolls, Katie, who owns a bakery in our dolltown. I put "unnecessary" details into this book just for fun! Haha. The book has many recipes and photos you can use in a baking scene.  What you see in the picture below: Whisked Memories: A Baking Journey by Katie Miller Eggs in a white bowl and a whisker I borrowed from my daughter's miniature collection An egg I bought from Temu.  Pink hearts muffin pan I bought at Daiso. It was a mini hearts chocolate mould. I cut it into smaller pieces. A heart cookie cutter I made using a tiny piece of aluminum foil. A sheet of cookie dough with heart shapes I made using whole wheat flour + school glue + water.  A piping bag with whipped cream. I made it using a piece of plastic bag + wheat flour + school glue + warm white acrylic paint. Check ou...

New Doll Times Magazine November 2024: ifiwereadoll

Do you like miniature books? I love miniature books. The book is one of the first items I made for my dolls. When I started making miniatures for Barbie dolls back in 2020, I used to make simple miniature books by cutting and gluing papers. It was easy but looked...you know, not so great. Haha. Thanks to creators like this month's guest for New Doll Times Magazine, there are a lot of miniature book printables available online! This month, the magazine featured Luma, the owner of an independent bookstore in a dolltown created by Chris from  @ifiwereadoll . Luma's bookstore is called The Boreal Quill, a unique one-of-a-kind bookstore.  The Boreal Quill has a great selection of books, hosts book releases and signing events , and offers  a book-swapping program. How cool is this!? So far, two popular authors, Daho  Johansen and Kite Labile, had their book events. You can download their books from here  👉 Printables By Chris @ifiwereadoll Let's dive into the in...

New Doll Times Magazine October 2024: raika.miniatures.dolls

Since I first saw Roamah's doll Instagram account @raika.miniatures.dolls , I have wanted to ask her to be in my magazine for the fall. Finally, it happened. Roamah created Raika and her stylish lifestyle. Raika has a dream closet full of wardrobes and accessories. (I don't want to show Raika's home to my dolls because they will probably get jealous!) With gorgeous photos provided by Roamah, I aimed to create this month's New Doll Times Magazine like a Vogue in a 1:6 scale. How did I do?  Inside of New Doll Times Magazine Here are all the pages of the magazine. Keep scrolling down for a 1:6 size magazine printable. Magazine Printable Download  New Doll Times Magazine is a 1:6 scale miniature magazine. It is a perfect size for Barbie or any 12-inch doll. You can download a copy of this miniature magazine printable from here. 👉 Download NDT2024.10 How To Make The Magazine Here is a video showing how to assemble the magazine printable.
